The first Antiques Fair and Vintage Market at the National Botanic Garden of Wales for 2018 will be held on Saturday and Sunday, January 27 and 28. The prestigious gardens nestle in the Carmarthenshire countryside, on the outskirts of Carmarthen.
Organiser Brita Rogers, of Derwen Fairs, said: “The fair has proved to be a recipe for success, increasing in size to up to 100 stands and includes many more stands outside. We have recorded record numbers of visitors this year and demand is high.
“The fair has become quite a spectacle since it began eight years ago. Showcasing a wonderful variety of quality antiques and collectables to suit all tastes and budgets, it provides a friendly and vibrant atmosphere.”
Bargain Hunt, meanwhile, is returning for a third year to the National Botanic Garden of Wales, to film the popular BBC programme in this January fair. They seem to love the quirky set up and its stunning setting.
Bargain Hunt is a much-loved BBC television programme in which two pairs of contestants, the blue and red teams, are challenged to buy antiques from shops or at a fair and then sell them in an auction, for a profit.
With the help of two experts and £300 to spend, they have just one hour to scour the fairs for that item that will bring them the biggest profit. The team that sells all three items at a profit will then be awarded the much coveted ‘golden gavel’.However, it’s the team that makes the biggest profit or the smallest loss who are crowned the winners.
Bargain Hunt was first aired on BBC One on March 13, 2000, in a daytime version, and from August 22, 2002, to November 13, 2004, in a primetime version. Presenter Tim Wonnacott replaced former host David Dickenson from 2003 until 2016 and just recently the format has changed since the departure of Tim Wonnacott from the programme .
There is a rota of hosts from a ‘team of experts’ fronting the series. This year the presenter will be the infamous Eric Knowles.
