WITH obesity being so much in the news recently and so many fad diets around, people often don't know where to turn and all too often fall into the trap of putting even more weight on.

But not super slimmer Elaine Davies-Jones from Tenby. She has lost an amazing 41/2 stones (which equals five dress sizes) since she became a member of her local Slimming World group at Tenby and last month was voted as the group's 'Woman of the Year 2005.'

Elaine, a mother of three, turned to Slimming World for help after seeing herself in a photograph taken while on holiday last year.

She said: "I couldn't believe it was me, and I thought I looked good; I felt awful. I decided there and then that I would change my weight and life forever."

Elaine attends a group every Thursday evening at Augustus Place Community Centre at 6.30 pm. "Being able to talk through problems with people who are in the same boat as me, spurs me on for the next seven days, and the group is so much fun, I've made friends for life there," she stated.

Elaine joined the Tenby group after years of failure with fad diets.

"I've never managed to stick to a diet before I joined Slimming World; they all left me feeling hungry and depressed. Food Optimising, Slimming World's eating plan is so easy and so generous, there's loads to eat, with hundreds of free foods to choose from, so I'm never hungry," she said.

Elaine praises the encouragement of her family and friends in her efforts to lose weight, but said her greatest supporters are her fellow group members and her consultant Eirian Rogers.

"I'm no longer embarrassed about my size and am full of confidence and energy," she added. "My husband is pleased with my new look and I now enjoy doing all the normal things, like shopping for clothes in normal size shops and grabbing bargains in the sales. Thanks to Slimming World, my life has changed for ever and I feel amazing."
