The fate of Saundersfoot's dilapidated Barbecue building was due to be finally decided last night (Thursday). Members of the village's community council were expected to make a decision on whether or not they would accept Pembrokeshire County Council's offer of purchasing the harbour building for £25,000 or leasing it at a peppercorn rent. In both instances, they would have to fund the renovation work needed. When making their decision, councillors were expected to take on board the views of local residents who attended a public meeting to discuss the matter last Friday. "The meeting was well attended and various options with regard to costings were explained," said community council clerk, Mr. John Griffiths. "Members of the community were dubious about the costs involved, the long-term programme of borrowing which would span over 26 years and that initially there would be a low income," he continued. "The final decision now falls to the community council who will decide what they are going to do at their February meeting."
