At a well attended concert last Thursday the choir performed in St. Mary’s church, Tenby. The climax of the evening was a rousing rendition of the American Trilogy enhanced as usual at St. Mary’s with the inclusion of the church organ played by Dr. John Harrison the Director of Music at the church. The choir were delighted to receive a standing ovation at the end.

Shortly after this John had a pleasant duty to perform when he made a surprise announcement of an award for the violin soloist Naomi Hunt.

Naomi was completely unaware that she had been awarded the final place on the James Lawford Davies Shield for string playing.

The award was from the Tenby Area Schools Orchestral Society and was presented by Jonathon Tiller. A tearful Naomi, who had earlier delighted the audience with her beautiful performance, was of course, delighted to receive the award.

As announced last week we have an outdoor venue this Friday when we are at Cresswell Quay for an outdoor concert and barbecue. This is always a popular event with a large crowd and certainly not to be missed. There is bound to be a queue for budget priced tasty burgers and hot dogs from the barbecue which will be open from 6pm. Children of course are welcome and usually enjoy the chance to participate in one or two songs. There is no formality it’s just a fun evening. Join in if you wish!!

Next week on Tuesday we will have a rehearsal at our headquarters the County Club, Tenby starting at 8 pm. Visitors are welcome to come and watch and on Thursday we are back at St. Mary’s church, Tenby for a concert starting at 8 pm.

There is much more information about the choir on our website www.tenbymalechoir.org or Facebook account (just do an internet search for Tenby Male Choir Facebook). A final thing for local people male or female to think about is that we are keen to develop on the small “Friends of the Choir” organisation and if you perhaps don’t want to sing but would like to join in the social side and if possible help the choir you would be very welcome.
