The Evergreen Nomads held a barbecue and raffle on Sunday, August 6. Thanks go to everyone who supported the event and helped raise money for local charities. Special thanks go to Dave Glanville and James for organising the barbecue etc. Well done lads. Several raffle prizes were drawn during the afternoon, but unfortunately, rain did finally put a dampener on the festivities. Nevertheless, everyone had an enjoyable time. The Nomads are still looking for Harry Beacon, a prize winner. The afternoon was highlighted by a donation from a gentleman staying at the Fourcroft Hotel. The Nomads only knew him by his first name, Peter. Thanks again, Peter. Finally, a magnificent donation was made to the Nomads by Mrs. Cheryl Burrows, whose son, Daniel, lost his fight against cancer. A fund was set up for Daniel called the Daniel Burrows Junior Trust Fund. The Nomads thank Mrs. Burrows and family for nominating them to receive the proceeds from the fund. A plaque in Daniel's memory has been placed at the Evergreen Inn. One will only have to look over the fireplace at the Evergreen to be reminded of a young man who fought his illness with great fortitude and dignity. Another barbecue and raffle will be held at the Evergreen this Sunday, August 27 - weather permitting. The Nomads would also like to remind everyone that their annual sponsored bike ride will be held on Sunday, September 10, and sponsor forms can be obtained from committee members. The chairman and committee of the Nomads would like to thank everyone for their continued support.

Mrs. Cheryl Burrows is seen presenting a cheque to Nomads Arthur Cowdrill, Dave Thomas and James Lawrence.
