Banners promoting community festivals and events will soon become a familiar sight in towns and villages across Pembrokeshire. The idea came from festivals and events groups working with PLANED, Pembrokeshire's community led development network. The colourful banners decorating street lamp posts will help provide a unique and distinctive brand for a series of festivals and events that celebrate Pembrokeshire's distinctive heritage, culture and environment. Pembrokeshire County Council is covering the planning aspects of the banner locations and the banners are being erected following discussions with town and community councils, community forums and festival and arts groups. Funding for the project is from the EU Leader+ programme. The banners made their first appearance at the Frenni Food Festival last week. They'll be seen next at the Pembroke Festival which opens today (Friday) and runs until September 10 and the Tenby Arts Festival from September 17-24.
