The August Bank Holiday weekend has been described as 'vibrant' by a local businessman and tourism boss.

"Despite a ridiculously wet Bank Holiday Monday and the water we have suffered since then, the Bank Holiday was pretty vibrant and a lot of people made the trek to Tenby not necessarily for overnight purposes," said Chris Osborne, of Tenby's Fourcroft Hotel and president of the town's Chamber of Trade and Tourism.

"In between the showers, I think everyone seems to have enjoyed themselves."

Meanwhile, Bank Holiday trade was 'good' at Folly Farm, with visitors turning out in high numbers on the Sunday in particular.

"We also fared well on Bank Holiday Monday as, although the weather was poor, the message seems to be getting out that we are an all-weather attraction with plenty to do indoors as well as outdoors," said Zoë Wright, PR and marketing manager.

At Narberth's newly-opened museum at the Bonded Stores, curator Pauline Griffiths said: "Wet weather is always good for museums! After a slow start, we had a steady stream of visitors who all seemed to enjoy themselves. There's plenty in the new museum to keep families entertained (and dry) for hours."

And at Pembroke Castle, manager Jon Williams reported: "Despite the erratic weather we had a good Bank Holiday. The summer started off a bit slowly, but really picked up for us after the Olympics had finished. The last week of the summer holidays saw our biggest crowds for our falconry, story telling and dragon days."
