A meeting of Saundersfoot and Tenby Barnardos was held at the Mermaid Restaurant at the end of October when a match-funded cheque was received from Barclays Bank for £700. Carmen Hopkins, bank employee, is also a member of the Barnardos committee. The chair, Marjorie Piper, and treasurer Sue Lewis were delighted to receive the cheque from Carwen, which brought the total for the sponsored Barnardos walk in September to £2,220. Grateful thanks are extended to all who sponsored Carwen and all the walkers for their generosity, making the event such a success. All monies collected in Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire are spent on projects in these areas by Barnardos Cymru with 89p in every £1 spent on Children in Need. The meeting continued with arrangements being made for the annual Carols by Candlelight service at Carew Castle on December 14. Tenby Brass Band had once again accepted the invitation to play at the event and Sageston School choir would again again entertaining. The Rev. Patricia Campion would be taking the service, with sponsorship received by the generosity of the Phil Thompson, of Texaco.
