GARETH and Barbara Scourfield, of Pembroke Dock certainly had a good relationship with their local builder. He created a multi-level home, built on the side of a cliff face, which at first glance looks like a dormer styled bungalow, but is actually spread over three storeys, with panoramic views over the bay.
As a result of their successful partnership, the Scourfield's nominated their builders, Tomlor Ltd., of Narberth, for the coveted Master Builder of the Year awards, and they became regional winners for Wales.
Local builder, Tom Reynolds and his son are specialists in this type of new build, and work throughout the Pembrokeshire area.
The project involved enough elements to challenge even the most competent of builders. Tomlor Ltd. carried out all aspects of the project from excavating the cliff face to hand crafting cupboards for the kitchen.
Tom provided a total service for the Scourfield's, and both the builder and client put a lot of time and effort into the project, developing a good relationship on the way.
Tom Reynolds was recommended for being a builder that puts the customer first.
"Tom and his son were very professional in their approach," said Gareth Scourfield.
"The site of the building posed problems and was unconventional to say the least. Tom exceeded our expectations, particularly with regard to design and cost changes and the way in which he coped with building on an extremely difficult site," the Scourfield's added, "We would highly recommend him."
