LOCAL student, 18-year-old Lloyd Phillips, of Gilfach Hill, Lampeter Velfrey, has been awarded for representing the Welsh U19 rugby squad at an awards evening recently held by Coleg Sir Gâr (Carmarthenshire College). Students undertaking sports and tourism courses were praised for their consistent high achievements demonstrated throughout the year. The annual event was held at the Selwyn Samuel Centre in Llanelli, where representatives from industry and sponsors of sporting teams were on hand to present the awards. Kevin Davies from Cawdor Cards (Haverfordwest), who currently sponsor the U18 rugby team at the college, is seen presenting Lloyd with his award for representative honours in rugby.
