LOCAL actress, Hilary Harvey, has been celebrating after winning the best actress award at Pembrokeshire Drama Association's One Act Play Festival.

Hilary (seen centre) won the award for her performance in Seesaw Production's 'Guernica Goodbye', by William Olson Campbell, who travelled from Slough for Saturday's event at the Torch Theatre, Milford Haven.

Hilary played Solana, who was Spanish, but then living in France. Oliver Hopkins played her grandson Raoul and Liam Lee played Jacques, a French resistance fighter who had used the war for his own greed.

Hilary, who went to Spanish dance lessons to learn the basic steps of flamenco and castanets for the part, has won the award on two previous occasions, 2003 and last year, when the company also won the best performance award.

Interestingly, the production was staged during the same week that the bombing raid on Guernica during the Spanish Civil War actually happened 69 years ago.

The author is seen left, while right is Hilary's husband Len, who directed the production..
