The award from the South and West Wales Safety Group is for the team’s outstanding contribution to PEEP - the Pembrokeshire Employers Engagement Project.
Established in 2015, the primary aim of PEEP is to provide free guidance and fully-funded training on managing health and safety risks to small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) in Pembrokeshire.
By working with a range of industry stakeholders, PEEP helps to break down barriers and promote broader ownership of health and safety. In addition it supports and empowers SMEs to simplify risk management and work smarter to achieve sustained compliance.
During 2017, PEEP targeted the care sector and a number of care homes were inspected. This entailed a detailed management audit focused on lifting equipment safety; managing the risk of legionella; managing the risk of scalding; the prevention of falls from a height and management of bed rails.
Care home owners and senior managers were then invited to a free training day at the Bridge Innovation Centre in Pembroke Dock.
Practical training sessions were delivered on the day focusing on topics pertinent to the industry and selected based on the findings of inspections.
This year, PEEP will again focus on the care sector and a free training day will be held for the care sector on 19th September. This year, the training will focus on practical solutions to legionella management; fire safety and patient lifting.
