On Friday, July 4, a charity evening will take place in Saundersfoot to raise money for new youth event 'Splash Out'; a surf experience day for children with autism. The blind auction and live music evening will be hosted in the village's Sports Club. Admission is free and all money raised from the evening will go in to the running of the Splash Out event. Splash Out is Pembrokeshire's first not for profit autism surf day and will see up to 20 young people take part in a day of surf-based activities and beach sports alongside local volunteers. The evening promises to be a fun-filled experience and will help raise money for a good cause. Entertainment includes a quiz, blind auction, raffles, as well as live music from local performers, and will be hosted by former BBC Radio 1 DJ 'Stan the Man' - one of Wales finest! Doors open from 7 pm, with entertainment starting at 7.30 pm. Splash Out is a surf experience day hosted here in Pembrokeshire and set up by local lifeguards Angelo Fecci and Alex Clark. The day has been specially designed by Surf Lifesaving coaches to enable local children diagnosed with autism the opportunity to experience surfing while being taught some basic beach and water safety messages. The event has received great support by both local and national organisations and is believed to be Wales' first not for profit event of its kind. Autism surf camps are not a new idea and are massively popular in America for the benefits they bring to the participants, including helping children feel calmer, more confident and more trustworthy of others, as well as helping anxiety levels and making the participant feel more positive about themselves. Everyone is welcome to the charity auction and live music event taking place in Saundersfoot Sports Club on Friday, July 4, at 7 pm, and the organisers are interested in hearing from anyone aged between eight and 18-years-old diagnosed with autism who would like to take part in this year's Splash Out event (July 13 on Tenby South Beach).
