Despite facing a virtually full strength Cardigan side in this Friday night friendly, there was no dishonour in defeat for the Otters' second string.
The Athletic made most of the running in the second half, with Simon Phillips and Greg England in outstanding form, but Cardigan did just enough to defend their lead and finish winners by 22 points to 13.
Cardigan bagged tries through John Mathias, Mike Grotta and Darren Morgan, with Aled Thomas converting one and slotting over a penalty for good measure.
Narberth's tries came from Arwyn Williams and Andrew Phillips, while player coach Rob Nicholas added a penalty.
