More than 70 athletes were in Neyland last September to take part in two spectacular sporting events: Wales' only quadrathlon and a team challenge. Twelve teams from Pembrokeshire took part in cycling, longboat rowing and running, while the quadrathlon, with disciplines in swimming, running, kayaking and cycling, attracted 15 competitors from across the UK. "Sometimes the team challenge can be perceived as an event for professional athletes; however, although a certain level of fitness and training prior to the event is needed, the challenge is a competitive and exciting day for those of us that are not quite racing snakes, and a great way to raise much-needed money for charity", said Richard Incledon, a member of the organising team and also a team challenge participant. Sponsored by Chevron, this year's Pembrokeshire Challenge will take place on Saturday, September 6. The events will kick off at 8 am, with all races starting and finishing in Neyland. A new exhibition event, the 'individual challenge' is being offered to those who would like to test their abilities in the challenge disciplines. The cycle, kayak and running route will be the same as for the team challenge and quadrathlon. Once again the events will be raising funds for Parent Action Group and Welsh Sailing Venture. "The challenge can be a means of a great team building exercise; therefore, we would like to encourage teams from the business community across Pembrokeshire to take part. The entry forms for all events and further details are available online at http://www.ptcq.co.uk,&quot">www.ptcq.co.uk," Richard said. "We can also provide details of local longboat rowing clubs for teams wishing to learn and train in this discipline," The Chevron Pembrokeshire Team Challenge and Quadrathlon are being organised by a team from Pembrokeshire sports clubs - Pembrokeshire Harriers, Neyland Rowing Club, Pembrokeshire Triathlon Club and Neyland Yacht Club, with support from PLANED through the EU LEADER+ funded Experience Pembrokeshire's Waterway project.
