A roadshow will be touring Pembrokeshire from next week, gathering information from local people of their participation in, and enjoyment of, arts and culture in the county.

It will be headed by Christine Willison, Pembrokeshire County Council's new arts officer, who is anxious to hear views on current provision for the arts and to listen to the public's ideas and ambitions for the future.

The Arts Roadshow will be launched in Castle Square, Haverfordwest, at 2 pm, on Tuesday (April 29), accompanied by a circus skills group.

Christine explained: "My philosophy is to encourage participation in the arts, to get people of any age and ability to experience painting, writing, music, drama, dance and the many other art forms.

"I am also very keen to work on behalf of the many local artists, craftspeople and performers who live in the county. I want to ensure that their work is platformed and celebrated and that they have support, advice and information to enable arts and culture in Pembrokeshire to achieve further recognition."

A questionnaire will be available later this month in libraries, theatres, arts centres and other venues throughout Pembrokeshire. It will also be available on-line at: http://www.pembrokeshire.gov.uk">www.pembrokeshire.gov.uk.

Copies can also be obtained by ringing 01437 775246.

Support and partnership for the project comes from the county museums officer, Mark Thomas; the manager of Theatr Gwaun, Mel Lucking and Cherylee O'Shaughnessy, marketing development officer with MASC (Marketing the Arts in Swansea, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire).
