Tenby Arts Club are well satisfied with the impact of the exhibition at St. Johns Hall. After only one week since the grand opening footfall has been spectacular. Visitors have stood aghast at the works of art displayed. The discerning have already chosen their investments, though there are many choice morsels still available to buy. Some many be repelled by constant references to value when discussing art. However, many fortunes have been made by the clever investor and your correspondent is quite prepared to report his own fortune from a purchase of a Rollings ballet dancer last year. This has appreciated by 27 per cent in one year. An excellent hedge against inflation and this is only in one year. The opening ceremony last Friday was a major glitterati occasion. Celebrities too numerous to single out. Finest wines and nourishment. Chairman Kath Brown opened proceedings in her usual robust but sleek style which set the pattern. She was followed by our own town Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, who charmed as she always does and spoke irresistibly and with depth. The tape was cut by Neil Westerman, the curator of the town's magnificent museum, who proved an inspired choice. He obviously is going to be a great amongst curators and in his polished address mentioned recent research projects and a major thesis on the local artist E. J. Head. Utterly brilliant. There is still one week for folk to visit and these same folk can be advised there is absolutely no charge. If possible, however, for persons partial to candy floss, the committee would like visitors to finish their 'lunch' before entering.
