Ainsley Hillard and Alaistair Duncan will be in conversation with curator Lynne Crompton in Oriel Q Gallery on Saturday from 2 pm.
This will be the last chance to see this extraordinary exhibition. Ainsley’s work has been done on a ‘Jacquard Loom’ which was the first programmable power loom that revolutionised the textile industry and lay the foundations for modern data computation. Ainsley has used fabulous photographs that she has taken of her daughter and interiors capturing the subtleties of light and created superb textiles using the jacquard loom.
Alaistair’s small exhibition, in contrast, is based on conflict in Northern Ireland and he has produced tapestries with wool and barbed wire creating powerful and superbly crafted pieces of work. It will be interesting to learn more from these artists about their inspiration and methods of working.
It will also be the last chance to enjoy the installation created by Sian Lewis in Oriel Fach. Sian has created a film, based on her life drawings, paintings and bronze sculptures which is projected on a silk backdrop creating an atmospheric effect with light.
You can enjoy this for free with refreshments and discussions, and also take the opportunity to bring work in for the Winter Open Exhibition which will be opened on the following Saturday, November 25, from 2 pm. See website for details, www.orielqnarberth.com, or ring (01834) 869454.
