A VIBRANT canvas weaving words with paint inspired by Oriel y Parc Gallery and Visitor Centre has been generously gifted to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority by artist Sarah Jane Brown.

Sarah invited Centre visitors to contribute a sweep of colour, a few dabs or lines or even words to the piece over a four-week period, which is the first donation by an Artist in Residence to the National Park Authority.

Oriel y Parc manager Paula Ellis said: "Sarah inspired and guided members of the public to contribute to this landscape piece, and the result is a stunning aerial image of Oriel y Parc which she has kindly presented to the authority.

"The glowing colours and amazing details of this unique building sitting in the landscape are captured beautifully in Sarah's unique style."

Visitors of all ages were invited to contribute incorporating layers of colour, textures and poetry, including a Welsh poem about Sarah's residency written by Anona Gray.

Another unique aspect of the project involved every contribution being recorded photographically on Facebook and every contributor's name listed alongside the piece.

The Artist in Residence programme at Oriel y Parc aims to engage artists with local groups and schools, while drawing inspiration from the National Park landscape. For more information about the current Artist in Residence programme go to http://www.orielyparc.co.uk">www.orielyparc.co.uk.

The painting can be viewed in the reception area of National Park Authority HQ at Llanion Park, Pembroke Dock.
