At a recent function at the Hywel Dda Centre, artist Kathryn Dodd, from Alltwalis, Carmarthen, presented a gift of fine art work to the centre.
Last summer, Kathryn was commissioned to submit a painting for an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art Wales at the Tabernacle, Machynlleth.
The exhibition was called 'Defining moments in the history of Wales' and her subject was 'Hywel Dda - wise and benevolent law-maker.'
In his address, Ken Rees, the secretary of Cymdeithas Genedlaethol Hywel Dda, stated that it was interesting to read the list of topics defining important moments in the history of Wales, and also the names of the artists selected to present their interpretation of the chosen topics. The list included Iwan Bala, Clive King, Kathryn Dodd, Gerald Dewsbury and Sir Kyffin Williams, to name but a few.
"I am sure Kathryn is very proud to see her name amongst the top artists in Wales," he added. "That in itself is an indication of how high her work is acknowledged in Wales, and as a committee we are very proud that Kathryn has presented us with this fine artwork."
