THE next exhibition at Art Matters, Tenby, features recent paintings of Vanessa Pearson. Working in a variety of media, including acrylic and oils, Vanessa shows work inspired by the landscape of Pembrokeshire, Italy and Louisiana. Her work is developed from pastel drawings and smaller work done quickly in situ, with a special interest in capturing changes in light in the landscape and the passing moment.
Having gained the National Diploma in Design with distinction at Wimbledon Art School, Vanessa continued with her studies at London University for the Art Teachers Diploma, later returning to pursue a course leading to the Postgraduate Diploma in Art Therapy.
Vanessa has exhibited in Wales since 1984, including at the Glynn Vivian Gallery, Swansea and the West Wharf Gallery, Cardiff, as well as in many group exhibitions more locally. For the last four years she has participated in the Open Studios Scheme supported by the Arts Council of Wales, showing her work at her home overlooking Angle Bay. In addition to local galleries, Vanessa's work can be viewed in galleries in Tuscany.
The exhibition, Place to Place, has resulted from her travels and interest in various parts of the world, and her love of Pembrokeshire. It will be open from Monday, June 11 to Friday, 29, 10 am to 5 pm Monday to Saturday, and Vanessa will be 'in residence' and available to talk with visitors on the three Fridays.
Art Matters is in South Parade, next to the Fire Station in Tenby. For further information contact John Faulkner or Margaret Welsh (01834) 843375.
