POPULAR local artist and teacher, Graham Hadlow returns to Colby for his fourth annual solo exhibition, starting on Monday, June 4. If you aren't already familiar with the work of this talented water-colourist, make sure that you visit Colby's 'Small Gallery' some time over the next three weeks to see his beautiful local landscapes and seascapes. You will love the subdued colours, the superbly executed skies, the architectural detail and the (how-does-he-do those?) wet, wet beaches. And if you are already familiar with Graham's work, make sure you call in to see the best of his latest work on show until Sunday, June 24. In addition to showing his latest pictures, Graham will also be holding three full day 'Watercolour Workshops' on Mondays, June 4 and 11 and again on Friday, June 15. Topics to be covered are 'Mountains and Lakes', 'Sunrise/Sunset' and 'Estuaries'. There are still a few places available for Friday, June 15, so aspiring artists, take advantage of this rare opportunity to paint under Graham's expert guidance in the delightful surroundings of the National Trust Woodland Gardens. Please note that whilst Graham's workshops are not suitable for complete beginners, the National Trust is offering 'Art for All' every Thursday throughout June, when a professional art teacher will be in the gardens to offer support to anyone wanting to try their hand at sketching, painting and a range of other artistic activities. Don't be put off if the weather is unkind, as artists will be accommodated inside the marquee if rain calls off play. The gardens are truly inspirational at this time of the year, as can be seen by the considerable number of Colby-inspired paintings already hanging in the gallery, so make this the year that inspires you to put paint to paper. Details of any of the above may be obtained by ringing the gallery on 814200, or call in during garden opening hours, 10 am to 5 pm, seven days a week.
