Learners from the art classes at Pembroke Dock Community Learning Centre have shown just what you can achieve when you decide to learn a new skill with Adult Community Learning.
The students’ art exhibition at Pembroke Dock Library is a testament to their ability to develop new artistic skills and experiment with new styles of work.
Under the guidance of Phil Allen, class tutor and exhibition curator, the learners have created work of an excellent standard, working with oil paints, acrylic, pencil, pen and even wax!
Phil praised his students for their enthusiasm and creativity.
“What the learners have achieved in their work is a result of their willingness to explore and experiment with a range of new ideas and techniques,” he said.
Laura Phillips, the new Lifelong Learning co-ordinator for the centre, believes that ‘the art you see on show at the exhibition in the library highlights the hidden talent on our doorstep!’
“And hopefully by coming to see the exhibition, new students will be inspired to enrol onto Learning Pembrokeshire’s art courses starting in September,” she added.
At the exhibition launch, Sandra Evans from Pembroke Dock Learning Centre spoke about the journey that many learners go on, from initially saying that they ‘can’t draw for their lives’ to displaying their work at an exhibition.
“These students think that they cannot draw!” she added. “Just imagine what they will produce when they can!”
The exhibition at Pembroke Dock Library runs until June 28.
