A group exhibition by six Pembrokeshire artists will be on view in the Small Gallery at Colby for a fortnight commencing tomorrow (Saturday).

Dinah Moon, Susan Pomery Wilks, Stella Watras, Ronda Thomas, Susan Rees and Anne-Marie Butler all claim that their passion for painting stems largely from the beauty of the county of Pembrokeshire, where all six work and live.

Their exhibition includes a selection of oils, pastels, watercolours and acrylics, and because each artist has their own individual approach, it also offers a mixture of varying techniques. So, expect a show of contrasts and diversity, dealing with a wide range of images of personal interest using a variety of media.

The friends have been working together, meeting regularly to paint, draw and exchange challenging ideas, for many years. Originally four of them met while studying Fine Art and Design at Carmarthen College of Art and Technology. Latterly, two more artists teamed up to form 'Art in Mind' - a group of trained artists committed to art production and the friendships that have been forged from it.

The name Ronda Thomas will be familiar to visitors to Colby who were lucky enough to catch her solo exhibition earlier in the summer. Her large mixed media paintings of some of the county's best loved landmarks - St. David's Cathedral, Laugharne and Carew castles, stand out in the memory - and while several of these stunning pictures have now deserted the walls due to being sold, what hasn't deserted Ronda is her creative energy. Plenty more to see, and even better!

For this latest exhibition (September 6-19) 'Art in Mind' aims, as always, to provide a pleasing combination of exciting art work. You will not be disappointed - don't miss it.

The woodland gardens, gallery, shop and tea rooms are open daily from 10 am to 5 pm. A special 'two for one' concession price to the gardens is offered on production of this article. For further information on this and future exhibitions, please ring (01834) 814200.
