The 17th St. Johns Open Art Exhibition is well underway. There are over 400 original paintings, both framed and unframed, as well as a huge selection of cards printed from the paintings by 22 local artists who all helped to hang the pictures last weekend.

The subjects of the paintings include flowers, animals, people, abstract and impressionistic pieces and many beautiful local views.

These talented people also knit and crochet, make driftwood pieces and pottery and photographs and they are also painting with well loved art magazines and books.

There is something for everyone at really reasonable prices. There is also a raffle because all the submission fees and the proceeds of the raffle and 20 per cent of all sales will be given to St. Johns Church and Cancer Research.

The exhibition continues until the end of the Arts Festival week, which is September 30. It really is well worth a look.
