There was a hugely successful private viewing of the Dyffryn Taf School Art Exhibition on Friday. This was a special event for students who contributed artwork, their families and other invited guests.
The evening was officially opened by Professor Robert Brown, the pro vice chancellor (research and enterprise) at UWIC and director of the National Centre for Design andDevelopment Research.
A warm welcome was then extended to all by the headteacher of Dyffryn Taf School, Mr. Robert Newsome. He highlighted that this was a unique opportunity for the wider community to see the excellent standards set at Dyffryn Taf and to share and admire the work of the schools young artists.
Over 120 guests visited the gallery during the evening and were amazed at the standard and variety of artwork on display.
Mr. Keith Thomas, chairman of the school governors, described the exhibition as: "A wonderful window on the students' work and great talent."
The exhibition is made up of work created by some students who followed the GCSE, AS and A-level courses in 2002/03.
Today (Friday) is the last day of the exhbition which has been running daily throughout the week, from 10 am - 4.30 pm.
It is hoped that people from the communities serving the school will take the opportunity to visit the exhibition and support the school in this exciting new venture.
