Pictured at the opening of the new art exhibition, 'Colloquy' by Christine Kinsey at Tenby Museum and Art Gallery, are David Hughes, chairman of trustees; Dr. Anne Price Owen, who opened the show; artist Christine Kinsey; and Mike Brew, honorary curator.

Christine Kinsey is an artist who writes and integrates words into her visual language creative process.

A 'conversation' between the image and the word has been central to the development of her paintings and drawings.

The layers of influence that have evolved from growing up female in the industrial valleys of South East Wales and the reassessment of the perception of women within a Celtic/Christian culture form a backdrop against which each character searches for a way to bridge the gap between a secular society and a spiritual inner life. This gap is explored in the pictures in the exhibition.

Christine has had a long career in the art world and is, as observed by Dr. Price Owen, one of the foremost female artists working in Wales.

Dr. Price Owen compared her work to that of David Jones in her exploration of the secular and spiritual.

Christine's work is represented in public and private collections in Britain, Europe and America. She was co-founder and artistic firector of Chapter, Workshops and Centre for the Arts, Cardiff.

Her work has been displayed at Tenby Museum in the past, when she exhibited with 56 Group Wales in 2008.

This sale exhibition runs until Sunday, May 24. The museum is open daily.
