ONE hundred lots, including paintings, prints, photographs, drawings sculptures and ceramics, will go under the hammer at Oriel Q - Queen's Hall Gallery, Narberth, on Sunday, August 1, at 2 pm.

Renowned artists, including award-winners at this year's Eisteddfod, recently graduated BA students and professionals, such as Sarah Ball, Christine Kinsey, Andrea Kelland, Elizabeth Haines, Geoff Yeomans, Martin White, Cath Roche, David Fitzjohn, and many more have generously put in work with low reserves to help raise funds for Oriel Q - Queens Hall Gallery, Narberth.

A 20 per cent cut in this year's lottery grant and uncertainty about the future funding means the gallery has to find extra money to survive, and all the artists who have previously exhibited here and indeed the ones that hope to in the future recognise the importance of this venue in the art world.

Their participation in this auction will, it is hoped, raise the £5,000 needed to pay the rent and keep the gallery operational for another year.

The work is on display in the gallery, Monday to Saturday, 10 am - 5 pm, until Sunday when you can view the lots before the auction begins at 2 pm. If you cannot make the auction, you can leave a sealed bid or even make a telephone bid to secure the work you want.

Osi Rhys Osmond, the painter, writer and television commentator on the arts, is the knowledgeable auctioneer who has conducted these art auctions in the past with wit and humour that makes the proceedings so entertaining - it's worth being there even if you are not successful with your bid.
