Narberth Museum chose Armistice Day to launch a programme of commemorative events to mark the 100th anniversary of WWI.

After the wreath-laying ceremony in Market Square, all the participating organisations were invited to preview the exhibition 'Letters from the Front'.

Admission to the museum was free all day and, despite the atrocious weather, many took the opportunity to visit and view the results of many months of research by museum volunteers.

In the evening, members of Narberth Youth Theatre gave a taster of a collaborative project to be performed with the museum in the spring.

Their readings from Owen Sheers' Pink Mist brought home the timeless experiences of young men going off to war and left the audience eager for more.

After that, Terry John gave a personalised account of some lesser known WWI writers, in particular local soldier/poet, Colwyn Phillips.

The exhibition will continue into next year and staff and volunteers are particularly interested to hear from local families who might have stories to share.
