On Saturday, July 7, at Castlemartin Range, the gates will open at 10.30 am for the Annual Armed Forces Open Day. Admission is free. On display will be different types of armoured vehicles, including the Challenger Main Battle Tank, a Lynx helicopter and a wide range of military vehicles and weapons from the Chapel Bay Fort collection. The fire brigade and the coastguard will each be giving a demonstration. There will be vehicle rides in the Pinzgauer, used in a number of units in the Army and the Royal Marines. Helicharter Wales will be offering helicopter rides. An archery and .22 rifle range will be on site. A 'Mock Battle' will be put on by 45 Commando Royal Marines, and for many, the highlight of the day will be a flypast and short display by the RAF's latest fighter aircraft, the Typhoon. All in all, an action packed day - funds raised are in aid of the Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen's Families Forces Help and St. Mary's Church, Warren. Two thousand people attended last year; be there this year.
