Sir, It was recently announced that the Quinn Group were to open a radiator factory in Newport, Gwent, with 460 jobs by the time the factory is up and fully running. Once more a major investment, this time £133 million, has gone East. Is there something the public is not aware of when large investors like the Quinn Group look to invest in Wales? Has Pembrokeshire been secretly designated a holiday destination, with no major investment of this type to come west of the M4 corridor, apart from holiday villages or a spattering of oil and gas related jobs, with staff being shipped in. What did the current sitting MPs and AMs do to attract this huge project to our county, all knowing how desperate we are for good jobs and good pay? Then we have the role of the quangos - the WDA must have plenty of empty factory sites in this county which may have suited this project. Or were they under orders from the Assembly Government to keep all investment of this scale East? Are we to remain a poor county, reliant on holiday trade, or will someone who sits in Westminister, Cardiff Bay or County Hall take the bull by the horns to stop the decay and bring this kind of investment West. After all, they say they want to stop the younger generation from leaving this county; they say they want us to have good paid jobs. Or are more holiday camps the future for our county, with paltry summer work and paltry wages?

I. L. Williams,

Cold Blow, Narberth.
