The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Right Honourable Rowan Williams, will deliver a lecture on 'Aspects of Waldo Williams' Poetry' at Pisgah Chapel, Llandysilio, on Friday, March 23.

The Archbishop is an eminent poet in his own right and is a keen admirer of the work of his fellow Welshman. Indeed, he has adapted a number of Waldo's poems into English and has even quoted from his poems at a worldwide symposium in New York.

Before he was elected Archbishop of Canterbury in 2002, Rowan Williams was the Archbishop of Wales for two years and previously the Bishop of Monmouth. He hails from the Swansea area.

The lecture at Pisgah Chapel is organised by the Waldo Williams Society and entry will be by ticket only, price £5. Tickets are available from Anna Williams 01437 563834 or [email protected]">[email protected]

The foremost Anglican of his day will lecture in an Independent nonconformist chapel on a Quaker who was formerly a member of a nearby Baptist chapel.
