Two of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority's flagship visitor attractions have won prestigious awards.

But staff at Castell Henllys Iron Age fort and at Carew Castle and Mill will not know the 'colour' of their awards until the actual presentation evening later this month.

They have each won an International Green Apple Award for The Built Environment and Architectural Heritage. At the Oscar-type award ceremony - to be held at London's Kensington Roof Gardens on Monday, May 15 - they will learn if they have won gold, silver or bronze awards. The awards will be presented by environmentalist and television personality David Bellamy.

The awards are given by The Green Organisation, an independent, non-profit environment group supported by, among others, The Environment Agency, SAVE Britain's Heritage and the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, and supports the Government's Civic Pride campaign.

This is the latest national recognition of Castell Henllys and Carew Castle and Mill and contributes to the Park Authority's stated objectives in achieving industry standards for excellence.
