A church situated at Tenby harbour has launched an appeal to help fund a new replica cross which fell off the roof recently.
In March, the cross above St. Julian's Church fell onto the beach and since then the Diocesan architect has inspected the damage and the cross has been taken away for a stonemason to make a replica which is to be placed back on the church roof.
"Thankfully no-one was injured and the cross was found lying on the sand," explained church warden, Mrs. Kate O'Neill.
"The cost of the work to restore a replica cross to the roof will be £1,000 and we are launching this appeal in order that the Witness of the Cross will once more be visible on top of the Little Church by the sea at Tenby Harbour," she added.
St. Julian's Church was built primarily for the seafaring community of Tenby, most of whom lived around the harbour area.
Its existence is due to Miss Minna Forde - a local benefactress who worked among the seafarers.
She first provided for the seamen's rooms adjacent to the church to be built and in 1877 she was given permission for the church itself.
