It’s time to dust off your treasures for a great, free day out as BBC One’s ever-popular Sunday evening programme Antiques Roadshow comes to Pembroke Castle on Wednesday, September 7. The doors for Antiques Roadshow open at 9.30 am and close at 4.30 pm. Entry is free, everyone is welcome, and there is no need for tickets or pre-registration.

Many of Britain’s leading antiques and fine arts specialists will be on hand to offer free advice and valuations to visitors, who are invited to raid their attics and bring along their family heirlooms, household treasures and car-boot sale bargains for inspection by the experts.

Visitors are welcome to just turn up on the day, but if they have an item with a particularly unusual story attached, or perhaps an interesting collection, or large items of furniture, they can let us know in advance via the Share Your Story page on www.bbc.co.uk/antiquesroadshow Alternatively, email: [email protected] or call 0117 974 2395.

In 2015, nearly 35,000 people attended Antiques Roadshow in the course of the year. Fascinating finds included a jacket belonging to former US president JFK, a musical penknife valued at £80,000, a sketch believed to be by Picasso and bought for a few pounds in a house clearance sale, and a precious toy panda that once flew with the Dambusters.

Antiques Roadshow executive producer, Simon Shaw, said:“Pembroke Castle is the perfect location for Antiques Roadshow, it has a fascinating history and a magnificent setting on the River Cleddau. We hope people bring to show us anything they have that relates to the history of the castle and the area. We would also love to hear about interesting collections and we may be able to help with transporting large or heavy items to Pembroke Castle if people contact us via our website.

On the day of the recording, visitors to Antiques Roadshow are advised to use the special temporary park and ride service which will be operating from the Quins Rugby Club, London Road, Pembroke Dock, to and from the bus stop directly outside the castle. There will be two buses in operation between 8.30 am and 1 pm and one bus running from 1 pm until 7 pm.. Parking in Pembroke itself is limited and if Antiques Roadshow visitors are planning to use the local car parks, it is suggested they pay for a full-day ticket.
