When the draw was made for the January draw of the WRU Lottery, the first name out of the hat was Narberth Rugby Club supporter, Mrs. Margery Phillips.

Remarkably, Mrs. Phillips became the 11th Narberth supporter to win first prize in the WRU Lottery scheme.

Mrs. Phillips was thrilled to receive the surprise news of her win and said that she was highly delighted and could not believe her good fortune.

Narberth RFC WRU Lottery co-ordinator, Peter Barrett, commenting on the win, said "As a club, we were especially delighted to receive the news from the WRU that Mrs. Margery Phillips was the January winner. Mrs. Phillips had been a loyal supporter of the club for many years and she has supported the WRU Lottery scheme since its inception. She also supports the rugby club in a number of other ways.

"It is quite remarkable how many Narberth rugby supporters have won prizes in the WRU Lottery over the years. As well as helping the WRU, the proceeds from the scheme also help the club."

Anyone interested or wishing to join the scheme can contact Peter Barrett on (01834) 861941. There are several smaller prizes each month, but the monthly winner has the choice of a Seat Ibiza car or a cheque for £6,000.
