A second sale, on August 27, of cakes, plants and bric a brac on Saundersfoot Harbour raised £555 for the Saundersfoot and District committee of Macmillan Cancer Relief, bringing their August total to £2,100.

Committee members enjoyed being with friends in the sunshine and sea-breezes while meeting generous members of the public and helping a vital cause.

In the UK today over a million people are living with cancer and four in 10 people will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime. Macmillan not only provides its trademark nurses, it also funds other specialist nurses and doctors, buildings for cancer treatment and care, grants for patients in financial difficulties, educational projects and information services, all of which help make the lives of cancer patients and their families easier and reduce unnecessary levels of fear.

Macmillan Cancer Relief's services are free and are funded entirely through the generosity of supporters.

The next fund-raising initiatives will be the various coffee mornings throughout the country which will jointly comprise The World's Biggest Coffee Morning on, or around, Friday, September 26. For details of local venues, or how to register to host an event, please telephone 01834 843295.
