On Sunday last, the Sunday School anniversary services were held at Pisgah Baptist Chapel. The afternoon service was given by Sunday School members. The Rev. Roger Hart presided over the service, and commenced the programme with an opening prayer. This was followed by the congregation joining in with the hymn, 'The spirit lives to set us free'. Other items were: scripture reading - Mrs. Linda Richards (Psalm 8); prayer - Rev. Roger Hart; choir - 'Every day if you go astray'; recitation - Jonathan; trio - Emily, Charlotte and Rachel; instrumental solo - Holly (glockenspiel); recitation - Cerys and Amy; instrumental duet - Lauren and Leah (flute and clarinet); choir - 'This is the way we live together'; duet - Sarah and Jonathon; recitation - Kane; instrumental solo - Emily (flute); recitation - Sarah; duet -Rachel and Charlotte; instrumental solo - Kane (saxophone); solo - Lauren (accompanied by Sophie); recitation -Holly; instrumental solo - Leah (clarinet); duet - Rachel and Adam; recitation - Emily. Junior choir - 'Thank you Lord' (a prayer, words and music composed by Sunday School members); musical ensemble - 'Down by the Riverside'; recitation - Adam; instrumental solo - Charlotte (piano); recitation - Thomas; Sunday School choir - 'We are the church together' (dedicated to the memory of the late Rev. Donald Davies, who found such delight in working with the young people of the church). Benediction - Rev. Roger Hart; conductor of the choir - Mrs. Elizabeth Treharne; accompanist - Mrs. Jayne Calvert, assisted on the guitars by Vanessa and Adam. The evening service was given by the adult choir. The chairman for the service was Mr. John Brock MBE. Young people part piece - 'I want to thank you'; choir - 'All in the April Evening'; duet -Mrs. Jayne Calvert and Mrs. Vanessa Thomas; men's part piece - 'Glorious Things of Thee are Spoken'; recitation -Rachel Calvert; solo - Mr. Robert Scourfield; choir - 'Morte Christe'. The closing prayer was by Mr. John Brock, and this was followed by the doxology. The choir accompanist was Mrs. Val Evans, with Vanessa and Adam on the guitars. Tomorrow (Saturday), the Sunday School travel to Cardiff for their annual outing. On Thursday, the weekly coffee morning is held, 10.30 am - 12 noon. On Sunday, June 10, the morning service will be taken by the Rev. Ron Price, Milford Haven, with the Rev. David Cardwell, Tenby, conducting the evening service. There will be no Sunday School meeting for two weeks. A Christian welcome is given to all to join in worship with friends at Pisgah.
