Last week, members of the Inner Wheel Club of Tenby and guests celebrated the 62nd anniversary of the club by holding a dinner at Heywood Mount Hotel.
President Joyce Walker, together with past president Meryl Sharp and vice-president Pat Mathews, started the proceedings by lighting candles for past, present and future members.
A very warm welcome was extended to Rotary president, Dr. John Bowen, and to the guest speaker for the evening, Mr. Timothy Everest.
Following an excellent dinner, Dr. Bowen was invited to propose a toast to the Inner Wheel Club of Tenby and, in doing so, presented president Joyce with a generous cheque for Inner Wheel charities. This was a thank you for the help and support given by Inner Wheel to Rotary at the annual Medieval Fayre and other events.
After the formalities were over, it was time to relax and enjoy listening to Timothy Everest. Born in Pembrokeshire, and the son of Inner Wheel member Marlene Green, Timothy has made a name for himself in the world of designer clothing. He spoke about his introduction to the world of gentlemen's tailoring when he was a very young man. Later he was fortunate to be an apprentice to Tommy Nutter, who was the legendary tailor to the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
He has worked on several exciting projects in the film world, has dressed celebrities for the Oscars and designed the British Olympic team uniforms for Sydney 2000. He has worked as creative director to the Daks Group and has consulted with Marks and Spencer for the past seven years, specialising in gentlemen's formal suiting.
Timothy now concentrates on his own business - bespoke tailoring for gentlemen.
Working out of London, New York and Tokyo, he has a client base ranging from cabinet ministers to Hollywood and sports personalities, including Tom Cruise and David Beckham.
After answering members' questions, Timothy was warmly thanked by Liz Storey for sharing his career experiences in such an interesting and informal way. It was certainly fascinating to experience a glimpse into the world of celebrities and designer fashion.
The lucky raffle winner was Colin Jones, who went home with a special Timothy Everest silk tie and cufflinks.
All in Tenby Inner Wheel wish Timothy the best of luck for all his future projects.
