The Pembroke Dock branch of the Royal Engineers Association celebrated its 90th anniversary in style on Saturday, February 7.

The branch, formed in 1914 in Llanion Barracks, held a dinner-dance at the Cleddau Bridge Hotel, where members, widows of past members and guests sat down to a splendid meal. Music and entertainment was supplied by Jock and Billy, who managed to get all ages up onto the dance floor.

The principal guest was the Chief Royal Engineers Lt/Gen Sir Scott Grant KCB together with his wife Lady Grant. The general addressed the dinner with his personal experiences of his army career over the last 40 years.

The chairman of the branch presented the general with a 90th anniversary plate, especially produced for this year. Lady Grant was presented with a bouquet of flowers by the chairman's wife.

During the evening, a raffle was held in aid of the local nurses fund and over £100 was raised.

The evening was a splendid event and all the members and guests eventually retired well watered and dined, with a big thank you to Jock and Billy for their entertainment and the Cleddau Bridge Hotel staff for taking care of them for the evening.

Amongst the winners of the raffle were Sir Scott Grant KCB and Lady Grant, Mrs. Powling, Nigel Fletcher, Mrs. Glover, Mrs. Simes, Mrs. Seabourne, Mrs. Hissey, Mrs. Marshall, Mr. Price, Mrs. Worley, Mr. and Mrs. Piddington and Mr. and Mrs. Cotton.

The hon. secretary wishes to thank all the members who donated the raffle prizes and Nigel Hissey for designing and donating the menu cards.
