Sir,

I read your letters page and I, too, agree with Mr. Lloyd's remarks, so I am writing to you to express my disgust and anger at the way, and the fact that, triple science has been dropped from the option choices at Greenhill School.

My daughter has luckily known what career path she wanted to take, for the last six years, and taking three science subjects played a big part in that plan. We worked through the weeks of anxiety and stress of the choices, she spoke to teachers, looked at the options on the internet, and contacted numerous colleges, so she could make an informed choice.

Now, suddenly, wham! She has to completely change her options and her future job possibly, and I now, too, am asking 'What is Greenhill playing at now?'

As Mr. Lloyd said, Wales is calling out, as is the rest of the country, for doctors, dentists etc, and the dropping of triple science will make it very difficult for students wanting to go down this route to get into universities. Why not drop the less favoured subjects like religion for Year 10+, the subjects not so crucial for the larger numbers?

Every parent knows the school will use the lack of budget as an excuse, but to mess around with the education of our children and to only give them a few days to completely change their options, is in my view disgusting! This affects their future!

I intend to contact the school and education department to express my anger and concerns, not only for my daughter going into Year 10 in September, but for those who follow, and urge parents and children to do the same!

Marie Hunter,

Lawrenny.
