This Sunday, October 26, sees Tenby and District Angling Club's prestigious annual open fishing festival take place along the beaches of Tenby, Saundersfoot and Amroth.

As can be seen in the photograph, 350 or more anglers from all around Wales and from as far afield as the West Country will be taking part in this well-known event, competing for a prize fund of over £2,000. There will be prizes for heaviest fish, heaviest flat fish, individual beach zones, the best lady angler, and best junior angler. The overall winner is guaranteed a minimum haul of £1,000!

The predominant species caught tends to be flounder, which means that anglers of all ages and abilities have an excellent chance of featuring in the money. But bass, mullet, dogfish, dabs and many other species have all featured over the last 20 years or so of the festival, which always produces a few surprises. In a previous festival, over 400 fish were weighed in!

The competition will commence at 10.30 am, culminating with the weigh-in at 3.30 pm to be held at the Tenby Ex-Servicemen's Club. There will also be a raffle with many prizes, and hot food available for all.

Pre-match booking-in is available at local tackle shops throughout the county, or on the day at Wimpy Restaurant, Saundersfoot; Amroth Arms; and the Ex-Servicemen's Club, Tenby, opposite the Five Arches.
