Angela Burns AM has won a prestigious political award just seven months after being elected to the post.
The Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire AM was named 'Member to watch' in the annual Welsh political awards.
Her citation read that the award was: "in recognition of her rapid progress since being elected in May. She now holds the important post of Shadow Finance Minister in Cardiff Bay."
The judges, who included representatives from all four main parties in Wales, also noted that as a newcomer to Welsh politics she had taken her party from third place to victory, capturing her constituency from Labour.
Mrs. Burns, who lives near Pembroke, said she was thrilled by the honour.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed my first seven months as an Assembly Member and have had the privilege of meeting exceptional people and going to fascinating places.
"It's great that the achievement of almost doubling the Conservative vote at the assembly election has also been acknowledged and I'm looking forward to continuing to fight for the people of West Carmarthen and South Pembrokeshire."
