DOZENS of viewers crowded the art gallery at Picton Castle on Friday to see the latest works of West Wales ceramic artists Paul Roche and Mick Morgan.

The exhibition is called 'Plattertudes and Other Stories', which cleverly describes the work of two very different artists. It features thrown platters, chargers and abstract vessels by Mick Morgan, who has a long-standing reputation as an exquisite potter.

Paul Roche's surreal works explore a narrative theme, featuring entertaining pieces like a piranha in an aquarium entitled 'Three Legged Cat' and the dream-like 'Eagle's Bush Tinworks', which represents his boyhood memories of life in his grandmother's kitchen.

Many of the exhibition pieces are for sale, but, even if you aren't an art collector, the exhibition is worth a visit to give you a lively view of the world. And Picton Castle's woodlands are ablaze with late rhododendrons and early summer flowering shrubs, so two reasons to visit.

The exhibition will be open until Wednesday, June 30. Normal entry to gardens and galleries applies: adults £4.95; seniors £4.75; five to 15-year-olds £2.50.
