Pembrokeshire Eclectic Music Society are proud to present Beverly Smith and John Grimm in the latest concert at Burnetts Hill Chapel, Martletwy

Beverly Smith and John Grimm have been working on a new project together. They have been friends for some time and have played music informally on many occasions, but this is their first foray into putting their individual talents into duet singing and playing; working up material and developing a repertoire.

Beverly and John have been having a great time putting together some wonderful material from classic old-time duets, original songs, fiddle and banjo instrumentals, brushing up old guitar leads... you name it, they're game. They are fresh over here from a week touring Holland and will be touring the country; this is the only opportunity to see them in Pembrokeshire.

Beverly Smith is one of the most respected musicians in old-time music today. She has performed at Burnetts Hill previously at sell-out shows with Carl Jones, and last year with Alice Gerrard.

She is in great demand as a guitarist, singer and fiddler, as well as dance caller. Over the years she has taught and played at many camps and folk festivals throughout the world.

John Grimm is an award-winning fiddler and multi-instrumentalist who has played with many old time bands such as The Georgia Mudcats, The Georgia Potlickers, and Rural Radio Company. He was a recent recipient of the Dr. Gene Wiggins Award in recognition of long and significant contributions to traditional music in N. Georgia. Dr. Wiggins was the author of the book 'Fiddling Georgia Crazy', the definitive book on fiddler John Carson.

In addition to his old time performances, he teaches fiddle with the highly successful 'Pick & Bow' after school programme.

Tickets for the concert on Thursday, May 3, are priced £7.50, and are available from   Pembroke Bookshop, telephone 01646 685144, or on the door.

Why not go along for a great evening of uplifting music and banter, all ages welcome.
