TONIGHT (Friday), the Memphis Seven will be performing at the Tenby Community Learning Centre in a concert presented by the Tenby and District Arts Club. Supported by the Arts Council of Wales and Pembrokeshire County Cuncil, the event begins at 8 pm and admission is £3. The Memphis Seven were founded in 1971 and have enjoyed playing jazz throughout Wales, in the New Orleans and Dixieland styles ever since. Their personnel include three of the seven founder members. Based in South Wales, the band is proud to have been featured at every one of the 20 Brecon Jazz Festivals that have been held, and also to have appeared at jazz festivals in Cardiff, Swansea, Birmingham and Bergerac. They are privileged to have accompanied many British and American professional jazz musicians, including Ken Colyer, Bud Freeman, Wild Bill Davidson and Jim Beatty. Their repertoire includes Blues, Marches, Ragtime and Ballards from the 1920/30s and if you would like to hear them play with the enthusiasm that only true devotees of the music have , then go along tonight and share an evening of good foot-tapping jazz.
