Amy Wadge, a singer/songwriter of honest, unsentimental, emotionally articulate songs, often compared to the Indigo Girls, Tracey Chapman and Sheryl Crow, will be coming to the Queen's Hall in Narberth, tonight (Friday). Amy will be supported by a new, young, local band from Milford Haven, called 'Persona B'. Amy Wadge (pronounced 'wodge' - hence the title of the album due to people puzzling over the pronunciation of her name!) first came to national attention in Wales when she won Best Female Solo Artist category at the Welsh Music Awards in 2002, and again in 2003, beating contenders such as Cerys Matthews. This year has been a busy year so far for Amy, with many TV and radio performances. Amy has appeared on Sesiwn Fawr, Popcorn TV, Stuart Cable 'Unplugged', Radio 5 Live 'On show' and 'Cariad @ iaith', when Amy spent a televised week learning Welsh, along with Janet Street-Porter and Steve Strange, among others. Amy has supported Eric Bibb, Brian Kennedy and most recently Jeff Beck on his nationwide tour. The highlight of this tour for Amy was playing two nights at The Royal Albert Hall. Described as 'a five-foot-nothing blonde bundle of energy with a completely guileless friendly girl-next-door persona and a God-given voice that ranges from an intimate whisper to a full-on gritty gospel shout', Amy's an irresistible and riveting performer. To find out just how irresistible and riveting Amy's performance is, go along to the Queen's Hall tonight (Friday). Doors open 8 pm. Tickets are £8.
