Matters discussed at the March meeting of Amroth Community Council were as follows: Colby Lodge historical project: This event was to be held on June 16 at Colby Lodge. Mr. Steve Whitehead would welcome any photographs, information, historical artefacts at the pre-event on May 11. Steve can be contacted on 811885. National Parks planning: The planning documentation was summarised and it was reported that the new plan would run from 2012 to 2016. It would be concerned firstly with conservation and enjoyment of the Park and secondly with proposed new housing developments. Potential sites for development were named as Summerhill Park and land adjacent to Morgan's Way, Summerhill. Questionnaires had been completed by the community council in relation to the new National Park Plan and would be returned to the National Park Authority. PLANED Community Action Planning: Councillors who attended this event reported that it went very well with a very positive atmosphere. It was believed that very useful development would come out of it as a result. PLANED were thanked for their facilitation of this very successful event. Blue Flag status, Amroth Beach: Council were updated on the latest developments regarding the loss of the Blue Flag for summer 2008. Angela Burns had written to the council to say that, according to the International Blue Flag Authority, there was a possibility of a dispensation for this summer, due to the very extreme weather at the time of the two failed testings last July. All the relevant documentation was gathered together, and with the support of the Environment Agency 'weather waiver' application, a dispensation request was submitted, together with an updated Blue Flag application for Amroth Beach. Councillors thanked the chairman and clerk for the significant amount of work on this issue. Sewage: It was reported that there had been correspondence from Mr. Tipper regarding mains sewerage systems at Llanteglos, Llanteg, and Wiseman's Bridge, Stepaside and Pleasant Valley. Dog bins: There was a request from councillors that a dog bin be placed in Amroth Car Park. The relevant officer at Pembrokeshire County Council was to be contacted with the request. Lighting: It was reported that this was being looked into by Pembrokeshire County Council. Enhancement of promenade in Amroth: Work had not yet started on this project, but the situation would be monitored. Road maintenance in Summerhill: It was reported that the surveyor had visited, but nothing had been started. Summerhill bus shelter: It was reported by councillors that the shelter had still not been cleaned by the council, but that some community members had done it because it was in such an appalling state. A letter was to be sent to Pembrokeshire County Council requesting again that there be regular cleaning of this facility and also to report that it was in need of repair due to slates coming off the back of the roof. Slipway to Amroth Beach: A community councillor had attempted to contact committee members of the Slipway Group, but had not been able to do so. A new barrier had been installed on the slipway for health and safety reasons. It was suggested that the county council writes formally to the secretary of the Slipway Group. Bus shelters: A letter had been sent to the relevant officer at Pembrokeshire County Council, regarding the need for a bus shelter in Amroth, opposite the Amroth Arms. There used to be a bus shelter in that spot. There had been no response from PCC. Another letter would be sent. Planning: Clr. Brinsden declared an interest. Land adjacent to Amroth Arms - a letter had been sent to the National Park Authority asking that the council's previous concerns be passed on to the right authority. The Barn, Amroth - replacement of storage shed with garden room/residential annex (no objection). Archways, Green Plains, Stepaside - renewal of outline consent (previously agreed by ACC) for one dwelling (no objection). Woodview, Amroth Road, Llanteg (no objection). Sea wall at Amroth between Amroth village and Amroth Castle - rock armour revetment to prevent erosion of sea wall foundation (no objection). Saffron House, Church Road, Amroth - window enlarged (permission granted). Wiseman's Bridge Inn Caravan Park - new first floor over toilet block (permission granted). Bevlin, Llanteg - alteration of existing access (permission granted). The Flat, Amroth Stores, Amroth - demolish existing building, construct four new units (appeal launched). National Parks Authority: A letter was received from the National Park Authority stating that in the period between January to June, 2008, officers would have powers of determination for applications under the delegated system rather than such applications received in this period automatically going to committee. There would not be a full committee meeting until June. This would apply to all applications whether approved or not approved by community councils. Community councils had been asked to clearly specify in their planning application returns exactly why a recommendation was made for approval or refusal. This would provide more clarity and information to officers who would then make their decisions. Donations: Annual donations were made to the value of £810 to local deserving causes. The list included local chapels and churches. Housing needs survey questionnarie: These were to be sent out in June. Please help by completing your questionnaire which will give local people the opportunity to express their views on housing issues in the area and ultimately help to maintain a sustainable community.
