Matters discussed at the recent meeting of Amroth Community Council included:
Corresponence: It was resolved by members that correspondence of a contentious nature received on the night of a meeting would not be discussed until the next meeting.
Mountain Chapel: Members were informed that an anonymous donor had given money for the new chippings to be laid in the grounds which were now looking very good and open to the public. A positive result.
Highways: The excess water outside the Cartwheel after heavy rainfall continued to be a matter of concern, along with the poor drainage above the Amroth Arms car park. The clerk should contact Pembropkeshire County Council to determine what action they would take for remedial work?
Members were informed that resurfacing work was to take place from Amroth to Llanteg, Trelessy Road, Crunwere Church road. The Amroth to Summerhill road was possibly on the list and the road from Kilanow Cross to the church at Colby may also be made good.
The bend on the road leading out of Amroth by the public toilets and opposite the Cartwheel was causing concern as there was another accident there recently. Members made the request that black and white chevrons be installed and reiterated the need for street lighting along the beach front.
A gate has now been installed to stop horses using the Mill to Wisemans Bridge footpath and members were informed that Pembrokeshire Coast National Parks had made a camber on the path so that water would run off. A positive result!
Land adjacent to Amroth Arms: This matter was deferred again on April 19 due to the applicant not offering constructive information to Pembrokeshire Coast National Parks. More information would be offered to members when a new application was made.
Stepaside Heritage Park: Members were informed that no offer had been accepted yet for this site and no final decision had been made.
Bus shelter: The proposed site for a new bus shelter should be sited as discussed and it would be up to Pembrokeshire County Council as to whether planning permission would be granted for the scheme to go ahead.
Stepaside School: The recent inspection that took place here concluded in a good result.
Stepaside Inn: Members were informed that residents were amazed that the properties being built here were so close to the road and had raised concern regarding the traffic. Amroth Community Council had also raised these concerns, but planning permission was still being granted.
Steps at Amroth sea-front: Pembrokeshire County Council would assess the situation and repaint same in due course.
Jet skis: A meeting was held recently at County Hall between Amroth Jet Ski and Small Water Craft Association, Pembrokeshire County Council and The Royal Yacht Association. There was no positive result from the meeting and the matter is to be discussed at County Council in due course as to whether the slipway is reopened for all to use or remove the slipway altogether.
Common land at rear of old Llanteg School: Members were informed that SPARC laid paths and landscaped the area many years ago, but the area was now very overgrown. A probation officer had visited the area with Clr. J. James and had deemed it to be a suitable area for renovation. It was hoped that work could start soon and workers would make use of the 'dial a chipper' that was in operation now.
Members agreed that this is a tremendous result and offered thanks to Clr. James for his efforts to get the work completed. The two seats located within the area would be treated and made good as would the fencing around the site. A very positive result!
Planning: Planning permission granted by Pembrokeshire Coast National Park for: Extension to replace existing greenhouse - Club Cottage, Stepaside; Change of windows to doors - The Pirate, Amroth; Footbridge to link car park with permissive path, Car Park, Amroth Charity walk: Cancer Research Wales are to celebrate their 40th anniversary this year and Mr. and Mrs. Williams from Cardiff are to walk along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path from Amroth to St. Dogmaels commencing on June 29 and finishing on approximately July 15.
Cancer Research are looking for publicity for the walk and for the charity and made a request for the chairman of Amroth Community Council to be present at the start of the walk. It was suggested that the walk starts from the Amroth Arms and the Tenby Observer and Radio Pembrokeshire be informed of the event.
Date of the next meeting is Thursday, June 22, at 7 pm.
