The annual general meeting took place before the usual meeting of Amroth Community Council in May and the following matters were addressed. Clr. G. Jones was elected as chairman; Clr. A. Davies was elected as vice-chairman; Clr. G. Jones was elected as press officer; no members were elected to represent the Craft Village as these premises have been vacated; the planning advisory committee remains unchanged and members will be contacted so that a reply to Pembrokeshire County Council can be completed within the required 14 days; Clrs. Mrs. J. Lewis, A. Davies and M. James were elected to represent the Summerhill Playing Field Committee; Clrs. Mrs. J. Lewis, A. Davies and G. Jones continue as trustees for the Education Charity of David Rees; Clr. G. Jones was elected to represent Amroth Parish Hall; Clr. R. Harries was elected to represent Amroth Village Hall; and it was resolved by council to continue to use the services of RBS Auditing Solutions for the internal audit. The clerk had finally received a cheque book and a paying-in book for the Educational Charity of David Rees and she would now organise with COIF to have the dividends transferred to this account and the interest to continue to be credited to the savings account. Clr. Mrs. J. Lewis would provide the names of children who were to move on to higher education at the next meeting and purchase thesauri in the usual way. Clr. Lewis informed council that there were 23 children from Stepaside moving onto Greenhill School in September. The plaque for the porch of the building next to the chapel grounds had now been installed. A positive result. There had been no reply yet regarding the opening ceremony for Mountain Chapel. However, Clr. Brinsden informed council that the History Society met recently and the ceremony would take place in due course. Arrangements would be made for the plaque to be fixed to the wall before the ceremony. Clr. Brinsden had spoken with Mr. Ian Westley, director of transportation and environment at Pembrokeshire County Council, regarding the road opposite The Avenue and work to rectify the situation would be completed in due course. Council were informed that the minute man was to be used in Llanteg in due course to monitor the speed of traffic through the area. The dog bins along Amroth sea-front were being emptied and gloves being replenished on a regular basis now. Another positive result. And the new dog fouling signs had been installed and thanks had been extended to Lisa Jones, dog warden at Pembrokeshire County Council. Another positive result. A big notice had been installed at the slipway on Amroth beach stating 'no alighting with jet skis.' And another positive result. The site for recycling facilities at the old clay pits in Llanteg was being considered by Pembrokeshire County Council and the banks would be sited well enough into the pits so that one would not be able to hear the noise. The whole site would be screened and no parking would be permitted on the road. Letters were read from three interested parties regarding the vacancy for councillor. To resolve the issue quickly and fairly, each councillor was handed a piece of paper and had to write their choice of candidate on same. Mr. John James was duly co-opted onto Amroth Community Council. A planning application had been received for change of use to a commercial coaches stop-over service area and associated engineering operations and landscaping at Seren-y-mor, Old Amroth Road, Llanteg. Amroth Community Council strongly objected to this application and have informed the County Council of same. There had already been a fatality on the TRA 477 leading to this site, there was poor access onto main road from this side road, even HGVs overtook on this stretch of the TRA 477. And there was strong objection from the community. The 'Notice of Conclusion of Audit' for the year end March 31, 2004 was completed on April 30, 2005 and was duly displayed as required. It was agreed by council that any monies outstanding from the chairman's allowance would be paid to RNLI. A cheque for the sum of £20 was to be made to Saundersfoot RNLI. Clr. M. James had been approached for the sign to be cleaned at Cambrian Cross. If this was not possible, could it be replaced as it was looking rather tired. The clerk was to contact Pembrokeshire County Council.
